How do we choose the right treatment?

The choice depends on the cause of infertility, the woman’s age and ovarian reserve, sperm parameters, how long you have been trying and any previous treatment. Many couples start with lifestyle advice, ovulation induction or IUI; IVF or ICSI is advised when tubes are blocked, sperm counts are very low, or simpler treatments have not worked.

What is the difference between IUI and IVF?

In IUI, washed sperm is placed in the uterus and fertilisation happens naturally inside the body. In IVF, eggs are collected and fertilised in the laboratory, and an embryo is transferred to the uterus. IVF is more involved but is effective for a wider range of causes.

Is IVF the only option for infertility?

No. Many couples conceive with simpler treatments such as treating ovulation problems, correcting hormonal issues, surgery for specific conditions, or IUI. IVF is recommended when it is the most suitable option.
